Trail Descriptions

Trail information:
After being shut down for over 4 years, the Burnt Meadow Mountain trail also called the Dugway Trail, is back opened. The Trail Master was able to negotiate with three additional landowners to provide a bypass around the land we were unable to cross. The trail has gained a bit more length, but starts and ends where the old trail did. A team of volunteers worked for several weeks to develop this new trail.
Special thanks to club members; Mike Dandano, Mark Preece, Ernie Perreault Jr., Mark Melchionda, Linda McKinney, Peter Valeri and Son and Al McKinney.

Trail #1
This is the direct route from Porter in the south to Fryeburg in the north.
The trail winds through rolling hills with scenic views.  Private
Landowner Vincent Pestilli, has provided a rest area at Phen hill,
please respect this courtesy, and use the trash cans.  The trail skirts
the north side of Frost Mountain with great views from the summit
loop trail. The trail connects to the railroad bed just below the Fryeburg
townline.

Trail #2
AKA the Clark Trail, also starts at the Porter/Brownfield line, but
this one heads northeast to Denmark up and around Sugarloaf Mountain
winding through mixed hardwoods, over Burnt Meadow Mountain

and through Brownfield village.

Trail #3
Is a jumper trail leaving from trail #2 just west of the Saco River.

It winds through the Woodland Acres Campground crossing the
Sheppard's River,  traversing the RR tracks, through Quint Bog and

eventually connecting to trail #1.

Trail #4
(Cole trail) branches off from trail #1 at Haley Town Rd and winds up and over Johnson & Peary Mountains, dumping onto Farnsworth rd, and ending at the Fryeburg Dump Rd.(Porter rd).

Trail #5
Aka Tibbetts Mountain Trail branches of from Trail #4 just north of West Main St.

Crossing Haley Town Rd. it winds around the back side of Tibbetts Mountain, crossing Haley Town Rd. a second time, it then passes though a majestic stand of tall pines.  There are several peaceful rest stops along this trail before it reconnects with Trail # 4 at the Fryeburg townline.

Trail #6
Aka the Powerline Trail is a short, straight connector between the East and the West, and the North and South.  Sunshine abounds this open wet meadow.

Trail  #7
Aka the Flower Garden Trail, is another short connector trail,
connecting trail #6 and trail #4 together.  It winds along the bank of
the Little Saco river, entering the bird dog trial area, before ending
at the Clay Pond dam.
